Duties and Responsibilities of an Aviation Security Officer
- Screening Passengers and Baggage: Perform security screenings at checkpoints to detect prohibited items using advanced technology like X-ray machines and metal detectors.
- Patrolling Airport Premises: Monitor airport areas, including terminals, parking lots, and restricted zones, ensuring safety and security.
- Preventing Unauthorized Access: Ensure restricted areas are secure by verifying ID badges, checking credentials, and preventing unauthorized personnel from entering sensitive zones.
- Responding to Security Threats: Investigate suspicious activities or security breaches and take appropriate action, including alerting law enforcement or emergency response teams.
- Checking Cargo and Aircraft: Conduct thorough security checks of cargo and aircraft, ensuring compliance with aviation security protocols.
- Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergencies such as bomb threats, evacuations, or security breaches, following established protocols.
- Surveillance: Use CCTV systems and other surveillance equipment to monitor airport activities and identify potential security risks.
- Customer Assistance: Provide assistance and information to passengers while ensuring security procedures are followed without compromising customer service.
- Reporting: Document and report security incidents, suspicious behavior, and any breaches of security for further investigation.
